About us

In early 2005, a small group of hardcore GPS geeks (who were tired of their GPS devices not working in dense cities, urban canyons, indoors, etc) got together to come up with a solution that would enhance the performance of their GPS equipment and applications. Our goal was to find a way to make our own GPS devices work in difficult, if not IMPOSSIBLE situations.

The result was Navizon Pocket PC Client Software.

But then we got to thinking; not everybody can afford a GPS receiver and sometimes people who do own them often don't have them handy when they need them -- so -- wouldn't it be cool if you could accurately navigate urban and suburban areas using just WiFi and Cellular signals? I'm mean, those signals are pretty much everywhere people are...

Our thinking lead us to envision a dynamic, collaborative, networked "Wireless Positioning System" that would be 1) EASY and 2) FUN! -- that could help people in cities and suburbs around the world navigate using only available wireless signals (Cellular and 802.11 WiFI).

This is the Navizon Network.

PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE

It sounds like a simple concept -- and with Navizon it is.

If you use Navizon with your own GPS and share the data you collected with the Navizon Network, you'll have access - for FREE - to some very cool and very powerful features of the system, and you can even earn rewards!

If you don't have a GPS, you can buy the Virtual GPS (only $19.99 one time license), and you will  be able to use Navizon thanks to the data collected by users who have a GPS device.

Navizon Policy and Philosophy:

The positioning data contained in the Navizon Network is both contributed, shared and used by Members. This positioning data can be used for personal navigation, social networking, moblogging, photoblogging, geo-tagging, entertainment and fun!

Our rules are simple:

1) Members who contribute their positioning data to the Navizon Network - in other words, users who have a GPS- can access and use the positioning data of others Members who do the same -- for FREE!

2) Users wanting access to the Navizon Network location data, without a GPS device can use the Virtual GPS for a one time license of $19.99, and will benefit from Navizon wireless positioning system as well as all the cool features that come with it (Geotags, local search, buddy tracker...).

3) All users benefit from the network, even Navizon users who have a GPS, as Navizon works where GPS doesn't (indoors, urban canyons...).

4) User who have a GPS device contribute the data to Navizon Network, therefore they can earn  Cash Rewards!

5) The location data that Navizon Network Members collect, use and share ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT CONTAIN any unique or identifiable information about a users or their movements. The architecture of our system and software is similar to that of the original GPS system but you and your devices are NEVER TRACKED by a central server. Our privacy policy can be found here.

6)Have FUN using Navizon!
