 On your handheld device, go to http://www.navizon.com

  • If you have not already done so, you will need to create a new login.

  • If you already have a login, the click "download". (You can also download Navizon here)

  • Make sure Navizon installs successfully, and continue to Step 2.

 

The first time you use Navizon, you must activate Wi-Fi manually.

  • Go into "Communication Management" and turn the Wireless LAN/Wi-Fi on. (If your device has a Wi-Fi hardware switch, be sure it is flipped to the "On" position.)

  • Once your Wi-Fi is turned on, continue to Step 3

 

  • Go into "Options" and under the "Account" tab

  • Type the "Username" and "Password" you created.

 

  • Under the "GPS" tab, make sure the "COM" port of your GPS is selected.

  • If you don't have a GPS device and are planning to use Navizon with "Virtual GPS", select "NO GPS"

  • If your phone does not have built in GPS, but you have a Bluetooth GPS device, select "Bluetooth (Direct Connection)" and Navizon will search for and set up your GPS device.

 

  • Tap the "Data" tab.

  • If you have internet access on your device, you can choose the "Remote" locator option. (Navizon will download the data as it needs it)

Note: "Remote" is strongly recommended, as it is much easier to use.

  • If your device does not have access to the internet, Navizon can store the positioning database on your device.

  • If you want to use Navizon without many of its' features, but simply for positioning information, you can choose the "Local Database" option to store the database on your phone (this is a Premium feature).

Note: it is advisable to check the "Auto sync daily" option. .

 

 

  • If you only want to "Map" the wireless landscape, without using Navizon's features, check the "Work offline" box.

  • The "Location Update Rate" designates how often your location information will be updated. The default time is 10 seconds, but you can change it whenever you want.

  • Tap "Power" and check the box next to "Allow Navizon to manage Power".

  • This allows Navizon to turn on Wi-Fi when it needs to, so you don't have to make sure it is on every time Navizon starts.

Note: The "Medium" setting is recommended.

  • Under the "Map" tab, you can choose the amount of space Navizon will use to store map tiles, and you can choose the location you want Navizon to store the tiles.

  • If you have configured everything correctly, you should see green or orange buttons on top of both "Phone" and "WiFi". (If you have enabled GPS, the  button above "GPS" should turn green once you tap "Start")

  • Tap "Start" and Navizon will find your position.

  • The Green button that is flashing, is the type of positioning that is currently being used to find your location.

  • Next to "Location Updated:" is the most recent time your location was updated. (The frequency can be changed in Step 3.

  • To view your current location on a map, tap Menu > Go To Map

 

Note: As you move around, or Zoom In/Out, Navizon will automatically download the necessary map tiles. To change the amount of space Navizon uses to store these tiles, please look back at Step 3.
